Dept. Of Chemistry

About the Department

The scope of chemistry is vast and encompasses the study of matter, its properties, composition, structure, and changes it undergoes. It’s divided into various branches like organic, inorganic, physical, analytical, and biochemistry. Chemistry plays a crucial role in fields like medicine, materials science, environmental science, and more. It involves understanding reactions, molecular interactions, and the behavior of substances at the atomic and molecular levels. The scope of chemistry continues to expand as new discoveries and technologies emerge.

Our Mission:

The Chemistry department is committed to prepare competitive and professional graduates within and innovative and intellectually stimulating environment, support other academic programs at Jawahar arts, Science and Commerce College by offering quality chemistry learning experiences, conduct basic and applied research of national and international impact, build proactive partnerships with industry and offer effective training and educational  and technical services to the society.

Our Vision:

The Chemistry Department of Jawahar Arts, Science and Commerce College aspires to excel in Chemical Education, Research and Services especially to rural student.

Our Goals:

Enhance the quality of the chemistry and industrial chemistry programs

Enhance the basic and applied research framework in the chemistry Department.

Increae enrolment the chemistry programs.

Enhane services to the community.

History of Dept.

The department of Chemistry came in existence with college in October 1991. Principal Dr. Umakant Chanshetti joined college and department from October 2018. Since beginning department is actively contributing in the progress of college. Till date we have Organised national level seminars, webinars, workshops. Some remarkable seminars are in 2014, ‘National Seminar on Water Pollution and Solid Waste Management for Natural Resources Conservation’, in 2019, ‘National level Seminar for Students on: Emerging Trends in Chemistry: Scope, Future’, were successfully organized. Dr. Langade M.M. has been working as a first faculty since 1st Oct.1991. In June 1999, Dr. Gatlewar D. N. and Dr. Mane V. G. have been joined as faculty. Forth faculty Dr. Pachpinde A. M. joined in 2003. Shri. Bhure P. R. and Shri Chavan D. R. are working as Lab Assistant and Lab Attendant respectively since July 1999
